Another Overall For Whatley

The year just get’s better and better for Kristian Whatley and the MBO Sport Yamaha team as once again Kristian climbed on the top step of the winner’s podium at last weekends round five of the Red Bull Pro Nationals at the Sidcup Clubs fabulous Canada Heights circuit just next to the M25 in Kent.

The team are on a roll at the moment and it all looks almost effortless, but we all know a lot of hard work goes into preparing the top quality racing equipment and fitness riding training for the rider.

From the very start of qualifying Kristian was on the pace, and that pace was put to good use at the start of the first race where he gated fourth, moved into second by the end of lap two, and passed the former British Champion, Brad Anderson on lap six to take his first win of the weekend.

He said after, “Qualifying went OK as I was happy to be anywhere in the top three, but got second. I had an OK start, in about fourth I think, and was making some mistakes round the first lap, but settled down and started passing and was soon into second place, behind Brad. I took my time and watched his lines to work out where I could overtake. I found away past by going round the outside of him before the long downhill. From then on it was just watching my lines and pacing myself till the end”

Race two, the first on Sunday, was more straight forward for Kristian as he got the holeshot with Brad second and just pulled away from the rest of the pack till he had a comfortable lead, then had to just bring it home.

Kristian said about race two, “I had a mega start and led into turn one with Brad behind me, from then on it was just about managing the gap and being smooth. Though I did suffer a bit of arm pump towards the end of the race and was struggling with my lines a bit”
