LAVERTY IN ‘A COMFORTABLE PLACE’ AT OPENING TEST OF 2016

March 03th 2016 | by James Burfield

Michael Laverty signed off last season with a British Superbike victory for Tyco BMW and the Presteigne based Ulsterman was immediately back in the groove – having reacquainted himself with his #7 liveried Tyco BMW S1000RR in Spain.
Relaxed and smiling over dinner at the Roda Golf resort, Laverty summed up his opening three days back in the saddle prior to the 2016 season.
“It’s been a good test for us. Initially it was just about getting my eye back in and reacquainting myself with the Tyco BMW. From there we began to re-evaluate a number of chassis components and various electronic strategies. I’ll be honest and say, ‘I’ve the bike in a very comfortable base setting’ and my pace is consistent and very strong here around the Cartagena Circuit.”
Looking ahead to the final day at Cartagena tomorrow [Sunday] and looking ahead to next week’s test at Almeria, Laverty concluded: “I’m really happy with my feeling on the bike and the work we have done here. it’s not about one-off laps for us. We will move onto Almeria with added confidence and continue to refine our package.”
